<p>As part of its efforts to encourage emerging projects and create a spirit of innovation among the Saudi youth, Riyad Bank renewed its sponsorship of Startup Weekend Al-Taif, organized by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology represented by Badir Program for Technology Incubators, which was held in Souq Okaz for three days from 11 to 13 August 2016.</p><p>The idea of the program is to hold a competition between the Saudi youth who have ideas for technical and industrial projects that would qualify them to be successful entrepreneurs, where a team of specialized experts train the participants on how to start and manage their projects. At the end of the event, the top three projects were selected by a panel of jury to be awarded with cash prizes, as well as the best expertise and resources available.</p><p>Mohamad Al-Rabeah, Executive Vice President of Marketing and General Director of Community Services Programs at Riyad Bank, said that Riyad Bank’s sponsorship of Startup Weekend for the second time during this year comes as a result of Riyad Bank’s keenness to encourage citizens who have pioneering ideas and provide them with scientific approaches and means that will help them to translate their ideas into successful businesses.</p><p>It is worth mentioning that the first award went to “Wahedon” project which was designed to educate autistic children, while “Mike On” team, a platform to invest in commentators, won the second award, and “Solh” team who work on mobile phones maintenance secured the third award. Riyad Bank also presented a prize to the most retweeted team which is “Takween”, who developed an application to support children through mobile phones.</p>
